James Murray Music Ministry Stands on:Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

James Murray, the youngest of five children, was born on October 12, 1969, to the late Reverend Jefferson and the late Annette Murray in the Detroit area. While carrying James in her womb, Ann Murray interceded for James that God would bless him with musical talents and gifts. 

God truly honored Ann’s prayers. James has developed a keen ear and a sensitive heart for Gospel Music. James acquired most of his gospel roots while he grew up in the Murray household and at Greater Apostolic Church where the pastor is Bishop Gilbert L. Allen, located in Detroit, Michigan. Many times his mother would test different melodies and vocal techniques with James and later teach them to various choirs and groups.

At the age of nine, James joined a group at G.A.C. called “the Apostolic Sons”. These young men were phenomenal. They sang on the same programs with the Winans, Commissioned, the Clark Sisters and Reverend Rance Allen. At the age of 14, James received the opportunity to lead a song on an album for Dr. Mattie Moss-Clark. James was blown away by the favor God had given him. Since that time, James has led songs on other recordings such as Derrick Starks and Today’s Generation in Detroit, Michigan and Minister William Rimson’s L.P.C. Community Choir in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In May of 1994, James married his lovely and beautiful wife, Crystal L. Murray. They have two wonderful children, James and Justin. Also in 1994, James became the Minister of Music at G.A.C. Since 2001, James has been the Music Pastor at his home church, New Life in Christ Ministries, where the Elder Gilbert “Mardy” Allen and Evg. Carla Allen are the Pastors.

James believes that gospel music (God’s Word transformed into gospel music) is a powerful tool to demonstrate the awesomeness and glory of God. He also believes gospel music is a voice of God, when it is played and sung with an anointing it can heal, deliver and set the captive free. Gospel music has been an essential part of life, from the first song written in Exodus 15:1, to the time of slavery, until the present time.

James desires to minister to and win many souls for the Lord. He recognizes that God has placed a profound anointing on his voice and life in order to fulfill his God-given purpose.

There is no limit where God is going to take him.
